Abstract
A preservation agent in liquid or tablet form for use in test specimens intended to be subjected to bacteriological laboratory analyses comprises complex compounds of organic boric acid of the type: <IMAGE> wherein R is: ethylene glycol 1,2-propanediol glycerol fructose mannitol sorbitol or other water-soluble dihydroxy or polyhydroxy compounds, said complex compounds being produced by heating, in addition to which 1 to 2 moles of the reaction water produced during the manufacture of said complex compounds have been removed.
