Abstract

S h a d e s ; reflectors; shade holders.- An electric-lamp shade is formed of a plurality of superimposed conical screens c with their smaller ends upwards, and one or more reflectors supported above these screens so as to reflect the upwardlydirected rays downwards and outwards, either on the outer surface of the top screen, or on the area to be, illuminated, so that direct rays from the lamp bulb d, which is partially frosted, cannot come into contact with the eye. The screens c are attached to vertical members a supported from a ring b secured to the lamp socket e, and may be made of cardboard, papier-mßchÚ, metal, &c. A reflector f is supported within the vertical members a above the top screen e, and a further reflector g may be supported above and outside the fitting. The inner and outer surfaces of the screens are preferably given a matt finish and these as well as the lower frosted portion of the lamp-bulb d, may bs tinted.
