Abstract

A cover, for gas-tightly closing a vessel for holding molten metal in a low-pressure casting plant, has at least one hole 8 for receiving a pipe 9 and a corrugation 10 which surrounds the hole(s) for receiving the pipe(s). A backing ring 11 may be mounted in the underside of the cover to protect the corrugations. The cover may be of ferrous metal. Thermal stresses in the cover are equalised. <IMAGE>
