Abstract

A device for correcting the path of movement of a belt comprises a roller 14 movable to shift the path of movement of the belt and a sensing means 17 for sensing the transverse position of the belt. The sensing means provides signals for a servo which moves the roller and the sensing means is coupled to the roller so that in use the sensing means moves in a transverse direction opposite to the transverse movement of the web whilst correction is taking place. The sensing means 17 may comprise photo-electric or fluidic devices. <IMAGE>
