Abstract

A heat exchanger particularly for a continuous-flow gas-fired water heater comprises a corrosion-resistant water- carrying pipe (e.g. a serpentine copper pipe) with heat-transfer fins 16 soldered thereto, the pipe having a copper- bronze coating 20 uniformly distributed around the external periphery of the pipe particularly where the fins are soldered thereto, and the fins being made of titanium-stabilized or niobium- stabilised chrome steel sheet. The pipe openings in the fins are preferably provided with collars 18 which encircle the pipe and by which the fins are hard-soldered to the pipe. <IMAGE>
