Abstract

Apparatus for delivering and orienting articles, such as covers (4), comprises a supply container having a bottom plate (1) disposed at a sliding angle to the vertical, a rotary article receiving plate (2) in side-by-side parallel relationship to said bottom plate (1) on the side of said bottom plate facing the container, said article receiving plate (2) being provided with slots (3) opening to the outside, inner guide means (5) extending over a portion of the circumferential edge of the article receiving plate (2) through a limited distance, and outer guide means (6) extending concentrically outwardly of said inner guide means (5), and together therewith forming a curved, first portion of a discharge chute or track (8), said article receiving plate (2) being provided with projections (7) extending into said first portion of said discharge chute or track, said projections (7) being uniformly spaced about the circumference of said article receiving plate (2). The articles are delivered by the chute or track (8) to the device of Fig. 5 which divides the stream of articles into two according to their orientation which, in the case of the covers shown, is either flat side up, in which case the covers tilt as their forward edges pass the end of a tip 17, to cause them to pass to track 14, or flat side down, in which case they are supported by the lip 17 for engagement with a curved guide 19 which directs them to a track 13. <IMAGE>
