Abstract

Dewatered sewage sludge, is fed e.g. under pressure by a screw in hopper (28), to the barrel of an extruder (1) which extrudes a strand or strands of the sludge product which is or are cut into pellets which are dried, and then preferably cooled. Typically the pellets have greater than 80% by weight dry solids and these are storable without deterioration or mould formation. <IMAGE>
