Abstract

201,339. Rose, W., and Rose Bros. (Gainsborough), Ltd. June 10, 1922. Packeting by wrapping-up.-Relates to means whereby the folded portions of cartons, packages, &c., to which adhesive has been applied, are retained in contact with each other until adherence is assured, and of the type in which the articles are carried between endless travelling belts of which the opposed inner runs are caused to exert resilient pressure upon the articles. The articles 15 are fed from a wrapping-machine or are introduced by hand between endless bands 1, 1<a>, shown in plan, which pass around pulleys 2, 2<a>, 3, 3<a>. The belts are equally driven from a shaft 4 by bevel gearing 6, 6<a>, and the tension can be regulated by adjusting the spindles 11, 11<a>, in slots 12, 12<a>. A bottom strip 16 supports the articles. Two series of rollers 18, 18<a>, arranged in staggered relation, bear against the belts to exercise pressure on the ends of the articles. The rollers are mounted on strips 20, 20<a>, capable of lateral adjustment. Heating means may be employed to facilitate the drying of the adhesive.
