Abstract

A method for the determination of nitrates in aqueous solutions, which comprises reacting the aqueous solution with an aqueous solution of sulfamic acid, displacing the nitrogen gas produced by the reaction with a nitrogen-free carrier gas, and measuring the nitrogen gas produced. Nitrates may also be determined by prior reduction to nitrites.
