Abstract
A colour tunable lighting module comprises three light emitting packages, including at least three solid state lighting emitters 300-302 and at least two wavelength converting elements 304 & 305. The light emitters are formed of the same semiconductor material system and light generated by them has dominant wavelengths in the blue-green-orange range of the optical spectrum. The two wavelengths converters 304 & 305 are used re-emit some of the light from two of the emitters in broader spectra having longer dominant wavelengths, while the third emitter emits light at a wavelength between the dominant wavelengths of the light from the two emitters and converters. Correlated colour temperatures are preselected with chromaticity tolerances greater than a minimum 4 step MacAdam ellipse and the efficiency and colour rendering index of the module is greater than or equal to that of the two light emitting packages including wavelengths converters
