Abstract

This invention relates to spacing apart cross-rows (7) of a layer of blanks such as green bricks. In a preferred embodiment this is achieved by lifting the layer off rolls (6) of a roll table using n a belt table (11), moving the belt table (11) in direction A whilst simultaneously driving the belts (12) thereof at the same speed as the movement but in direction B to transfer at least the rearmost cross-row (7) as seen in direction A back onto the rolls (6), the cross- row(s) (7) remaining in substantially one plane during transfer. After such transfer the drive for the belts (12) is stopped to obtain the required spacing between the transferred cross-row and the rearmost cross-row on the belt table to be transferred next. Such an embodiment enables freshly pressed wet or dry blanks to be rearranged whilst preventing damage to the bottom surfaces thereof. <IMAGE>
