Abstract

A subsoiler comprises a frame (1) and at least one subsoil tool (3) which is pivotable relatively to the frame (1) about an axis which is in front of the free end (13) of the tool (3). This allows the tool (3) to ride over obstacles encountered in the soil during operation. The tool (3) may return to its working position under its own weight, or under the action of a ballast weight, which may comprise a ground wheel (26). Alternatively spring means may be provided for this purpose. Also, there may be a latching device for retaining the tool (3) in its working position, this latching device releasing the tool (3) upon overload and re-engaging when the subsoiler is lifted. A fin may be fitted to each tool, the fin being inclined so that it acts on the soil to steer the tool to a desired depth. <IMAGE>
