Abstract
201,208. Streatfeild, W. H. R. April 3, 1922. Kinematograph apparatus; projection screens. -In a projector having a single lens and an intermittent feed mechanism, a transparent block having parallel plane surfaces is provided between the film and the lens, the block being moved while the film is being fed so that a stationary image is projected on to the screen for a material portion of the time the film is moving. As shown, the block 14 is rotated intermittently by means of a maltese cross 13 and a pin wheel 11, the pin wheel being mounted on the spindle 10 carrying the pin wheel 8 operating the maltese cross 7 on the shaft of the feed sprocket 5. A shutter 18 is provided in front of the lens 17 and may be adapted to cut off the light during less than half of the period of film movement. The gate aperture may be larger than the film images, and a masking plate having an aperture of the same size as the images may be associated with the gate and be reciprocated vertically by a cam and lever to prevent exhibition of portions of adjacent images. Alternatively, a light-absorbing mask of velvet &c. may be provided round the image space of the projection screen to prevent observation of the parts of adjacent images.
