Abstract

A pack 10 for smoking articles has a body 11 with an open end, a lid 18 (figure 1) configured to open or close the open end, and locking means 29, 30 configured to be engageable to retain the lid in a closed position. A biasing means 32 is provided which biases the lid towards an open position and the locking means 29, 30 retains the lid in a closed position against the force of the biasing means. The lid is urged towards an open position by the biasing means 32 once the locking means 29, 30 is disengaged, this biasing action may only act over the initial range of motion of the lid opening. The biasing means 32 may include a first 33 end attached to the lid and a second free end 35 which engages the pack 10 body. The biasing means 32 may be integrally formed within the lid, or formed separately and adhered to the lid, which may be hingedly mounted on the pack body and pivotable between open and closed positions. The biasing means 32 may be a spring member, which may be a folded piece of card with a V-shaped cross-section.
