Abstract

A control system is disclosed particularly for a microwave oven which cooks an article to a desired temperature at a desired power level irrespective of time and upon reaching the desired temperature the article is maintained warm for as long as the user desires. A thermistor sensor is utilized in conjunction with a variable circuit element and other associated circuitry to establish and sense a set point temperature, and an oscillator circuit is utilized to provide variable average power to the microwave oven magnetron in response to the comparison of actual temperature of the article being cooked versus the established set point temperature. Also disclosed is a means for applying power to the microwave magnetron high voltage transformer at the crest of a half-cycle waveform and a means which controls the flow of D.C. current drawn from a D.C. power supply to activate a TRIAC for driving the magnetron load.
