Abstract
The transition deck/piece 2 comprises a number of connecting parts arranged with rotational symmetry about a central axis of the piece. A gangway or walkway for providing access is coupled to the side of the piece. The piece may comprise a central structure from which the connecting parts extend outwardly. The piece may form part of an offshore wind turbine structure comprising the piece attached to a jacket 4 via the connecting parts which correspond to legs or columns on the jacket foundation, a lower part of the gangway may be attached to the jacket. The structure may include a J tube with a substantially vertical portion for directing a cable up the leg of the jacket. Also claimed is a method of installing the transition deck on a jacket wherein the transition deck is conveyed and rotated in order to place the gangway on the leeward, i.e. opposite to the windward, side of the offshore structure.
