Abstract

This invention relates to a method and apparatus for cutting and sealing off old gas service pipes in an "under- pressure" environment. The method comprises drilling a hole "under- pressure" in the side of the existing service pipe, filling the part of the pipe with a mastic 21 which forms a plug within the pipe, sawing the service pipe so as to leave a stub 22 of pipe and mastic and attaching a cap 1, 2 to the stub left in the gas pipeline. <IMAGE>
