Abstract
The present invention relates to a hydraulic mechanism for tipping a cab of a vehicle, comprising: a reservoir 19 for hydraulic fluid; a double-acting piston cylinder unit having first and second chambers separated by said piston and means 25 for restricting the maximum hydraulic force in said first chamber, which includes the piston-rod, to less than that in said second chamber; means for supplying pressurised fluid from said reservoir to both chambers of said cylinder unit; a recovery valve 11 for controlling said supply of fluid to the second of said chambers, said valve having first and second operating modes whereby in said first operating mode, which is shown, said valve allows said supply of fluid to said second chamber to enable displacement of said piston in a first direction to expand such second chamber and in said second operating mode said valve prevents the supply of fluid to said second chamber to enable displacement of said piston in the opposite direction, i.e. retraction of the piston-rod. <IMAGE>
