Abstract

A process of sizing paper in which resin size is precipitated by means of a precipitant, the precipitant being a practically sulphate-free aluminium polyhydroxy chloride (Alr(OH)sClt)n wherein n is a whole number greater than or equal to 1. The use of the specified precipitant reduces or avoids corrosion problems encountered when alum is used as the precipitant and caused by the reduction of the sulphate to sulphides.
