Abstract

Network comprises wireless terminal 1215, preferably security camera, and a platform 700 in a NodeB, femto cell access point, or radio network controller (RNC) of a radio access network (RAN). The terminal may include visible 1230 and IR 1232 cameras and a geo-location/GPS sensor 1234, controlled by application 1224 and feeding data store 1236. Platform 700 includes a services/application layer 706 which contains terminal control application 740 and store and forward application 1210. The operation of the camera can be controlled in dependence upon both security and network factors. For example camera choice, frame rate, resolution can be changed to suit amount of activity detect in the images and/or quality of the wireless network link. Images can be forwarded to further locations 1200 for deeper analysis.
