Abstract

A hot chamber die casting machine suitable for use with molten aluminium and other metals and alloys which in the molten state are corrosive to ferrous metals has an injection pump assembly comprising a hot chamber for the molten metal, an injection pump cylinder and piston within the hot chamber and an outlet nozzle leading to a die and connected by a gooseneck to the pump cylinder. The whole or part of the components of the assembly are protected from corrosion, oxidation, abrasion, erosion or mechanical and/or thermal shocks by being made of materials resistant to those actions or by having coatings and/or inserts made of such materials, examples of which are given. <IMAGE>
