Abstract

A motor vehicle includes a tilt cab which is pivotally mounted at 9 to a vehicle sub-frame 8 and has a front radiator grill 11 pivotally mounted at 7 to the vehicle for movement between a closed, latched position in which the grill covers both a servicing opening in the front of the cab and the area between the base of the tilt cab and a front bumper of the vehicle, and an open, unlatched position which allows substantially free access to said servicing opening. The front grill 11 is automatically unlatched as the cab is tilted, but a safety latch 15 interconnects the front grill 11 and the tilt cab so as to prevent said grill 11 being opened by more than a predetermined amount from said closed position unless said safety latch 15 is manually disengaged. The safety latch 15 includes means 16 whereby the predetermined amount that the grill 11 can open is sequentially increased as the cab is tilted so that the grill 11 is maintained free from collision with the cab or front bumper throughout the cab- tilting movement. <IMAGE>
