Abstract

In a c.r.t. getter 10 is mounted via resilient member 11 and clamping member 12 in the neck which also contains resistive layer 3 to offset flash- over effects. The arrangement offsets shorting of the resistive layer 3 and distorted positioning of the electrodes as when member 11 is mounted on the gun system. Eyelets 13 or bent over ends of member 12 facilitate assembly using tongs. Band 12 or another clamping member may support a further electrode, diaphragm or lens element. The gun system may be fully insulated from layer 3, and the part of the layer extending into the neck may be an accelerating electrode. Layer 3 composition is specified as is band 12 to springs 9 distance. <IMAGE>
