Abstract

A transport unit for handling round bales of hay comprising a wheeled chassis 13 and bale support frame 19 extending along the chassis and pivotally mounted to one end of the chassis about a substantially horizontal transverse axis, drive means to cause pivotal movement of the frame on the chassis between a position lying adjacent the chassis to an upright position, bale support members 21 provided at the pivotal end of the frame, support means 23 provided on the frame to support the end of the bales remote from the bale support means, pick up means 27 provided at one side of the chassis and adapted to engage bales on the ground and lift them onto the support frame, such that their longitudinal central axis is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the transport unit. <IMAGE>
