Abstract

A solar collector (14), e.g. in a power plant utilising solar energy as the heat source, has a controllable entry aperture (18) for the incoming radiant energy, the aperture being defined by movable shutters (100), each shutter having a temperature sensing device (102) and operating means (106) which are operable in dependence of the sensed temperature to maintain each shutter in a position corresponding to a predetermined temperature at the entry aperture. <IMAGE>
