Abstract
A pyrotechnic device, for example a flare 1 having a propulsion system 2 with a pyrotechnic charge 3, is equipped with an ignition device comprising a central electrode 8 provided by a conventional spark plug 9 and projecting into a central channel 6 of the charge 3, and a hollow peripheral unit 10 threadedly connected to the spark plug 9 and constituting a peripheral electrode. The charge is provided with opposed radial perforations 7a, 7b through which the spark passes between the electrodes 6, 10 to ignite the charge An O-ring seal 12 located in a groove 11 with a conical bottom serves to retain the flare until a predetermined pressure is reached. Suitable electrical ignition circuits are illustrated in Figures 2 and 3. <IMAGE>
