Abstract

In order to enable a rotatable saw blade (60) to cut a thick piece of timber using the full diameter of the blade, and also to cut a piece of timber close to a conveyor (42) using only an edge of the blade, the motor 56 which rotates the blade is movable along a pivotable carrier (62) in a direction (71) transverse to the axis about which the carrier tilts and also transverse to the direction of advance of the conveyor. <IMAGE>
