Abstract

A door lock has a lock cylinder to accept two different keys and two locking members movable by the cylinder only one or both of which are retained locked by a detent when one or the other key is used, i.e. it cannot be unlocked by a "garage key" after locking with a "safety key". The cylinder (1), when rotated by either key directly rotates one locking member (51) and has a projection (27) for rotating, when rotated only by the "safety key", through a control sleeve (16), a second locking member (57) after an initial rotation of 30 DEG to align recesses (55 and 64) in both locking members for engagement with a detent (66) after subsequent rotation together. Extra tumblers (21) (22) (23) (24) are inoperable by the "garage" key to release the control sleeve (16) from the cylinder (1) and allow the initial relative rotation between the control sleeve (16) and cylinder (1) to achieve alignment of the recesses (55) (64) necessary for "safety" locking, nor disalignment necessary for unlocking from the "safety locked" position. <IMAGE>
