Abstract

A cooling system consisting of radiators (11, 19) and a fan (12) is arranged within the engine compartment (13) of a vehicle's drive unit composed of an internal- combustion engine (14) and transmission (15), the engine compartment wall (18) having intake- air apertures and outgoing-air apertures for the fan (12) driven from the transmission (15). In front of the intake orifice (27) of the fan (12) a first radiator (11) together with a funnel- shaped intake-orifice casing (25) is secured to an air-duct housing (26) which encloses the fan (12) operating with radial air outlet and forms its diffuser chamber. Another radiator (19) is secured at an outlet aperture (24) in the air-duct housing (26) for fan air, whereas the engine compartment (13) is ventilated through another outlet aperture (23) in the air-duct housing. The system overcomes space restrictions occurring in an engine compartment and allows for independent heat dissipation of the transmission oil and engine coolant. <IMAGE>
