Abstract

A device for fusion jointing of a plastics pipe fitting 1 to a plastics pipe 3, comprises first and second holding means 5, 13 for the pipe and the fitting respectively, means allowing relative movement between the first and second holding means, the second holding means being loosely mounted to allow relative movement between the first and second holding means in a direction transverse to the first mentioned relative movement and locking means whereby said second mentioned relative movement may be prevented. The device includes a mounting means for a heater assembly arrangement so that, on relative movement apart of the first and second holding means, the heater assembly is caused to move in such a way that the first and second holding means and the heater separate from each other. <IMAGE>
