Abstract

Scaffolding comprises a plurality of uprights 2 each having connection members 7 spaced at regular intervals v therealong, end ones thereof being spaced from the upper and lower ends of the upright by amounts a and f respectively. This can result in the lower ends of the uprights being unconnected by horizontal or diagonal members close to the ground, especially where screwed feet or jacks are used at the lower ends to compensate for ground unevenness. To obviate this difficulty a compensating member 1 is provided which comprises a tube 6 having an upper sleeve 5 attached thereto to form a socket which can receive the lower end of an upright, and a connection member 7 is provided on the tube at a position which spaces it at said regular interval v from the lowermost connection member on the upright. <IMAGE>
