Abstract

A process for the manufacture of moulded articles from a mixture of particles containing lignocellulose and one or more thermoplastic binding agents, comprising heating the mixture without the application of pressure so as to evaporate moisture contained in the mixture and then pressing the mixture whilst continuing to apply heat thereto. In order to avoid damage to the article in the pressing stage caused by evaporation during pressing, the heating stage is continued for at least twice the duration of the pressing stage. Infrared, microwave, high-frequency or contact heating may be employed. Seat shells, radio and television housings, boxes and crates, doors and shelving may be formed.
