Abstract

A ticket-issuing machine, particularly adapted for railway tickets, comprises a programmed computer, a ticket-printing machine controlled by said computer and at least one keyboard associated to said computer, said keyboard serving for the selection of at least the station of the desired destination, and if necessary of the station of departure. The computer is provided with a memory inside which there are stored, for each line of the railway network, the progressive distances of the consecutive stations of the said line, and the said computer is programmed in such a manner so as to obtain upon request the distance between any two stations of the line. The computer has also stored in a distinct manner, for each line of the railway network, all the ramification or junction stations, and, for the determination of the shortest distance between two stations belonging to different lines, it compares the contacting lines to locate a common ramification station, and adds the partial distances obtained from the lines linking the two stations.
