Abstract

199,504. Hamaguchi, H. March 30, 1922. Paints, removing.-A pasty composition for removing dried paint comprises an alkaline aluminate, caustic alkali, and rice bran. In an example, 3 parts by weight of a 10 per cent solution of ammonia are added to 2 parts by weight of a 35 per cent solution of aluminium sulphate and the precipitated hydroxide dissolved by the addition of caustic soda or potash; 90 per cent by weight of this solution is added to 10 per cent of a mixture obtained by mixing a 10 per cent solution of caustic potash with half its own weight of rice bran. If the aluminium hydroxide has been dissolved in excess of alkali, the rice bran may be added directly to the solution. The composition is applied to the paint by brush or blowing nozzle, and after an interval, the whole is washed off with water.
