Abstract
198,345. Bosch Akt.-Ges., R. May 23, 1922, [Convention date]. Sparking - plugs. - In a sparking plug having an insulator b of ceramic material, the central electrode c is formed throughsulator b of ceramic substance, for instance " silit," which consists of carbon, silicon, and nitrogen. The conductivity may be improved by adding powdered carbon, graphite, metallic componnds, or other conducting substances. The electrode preferably has the same co-efficient of expansion as the insulator, in order to prevent leakages. In one form, the electrode and the insulator are both fixed before being assembled. In modifications one or both are unfired or only lightly fired before assembling, and both are then fired together; an intermediate adhesive layer of fireproof material may be employed. In a further form, a short central electrode of vitreous or ceramic material, in the lower end of the insulator, is connected to a metallic terminal post.
