Abstract
197,684. Kobiolke, A. M. May 10, 1922, [Convention date]. Aspirating apparatus, ejector.-The nozzle 2 of a steam- or water-operated ejector for producing a vacuum in a chamber connected, through a pipe 4, to a chamber into which the nozzle discharges, is provided with a spiral baffle 5 or with internal spiral ribs, not shown, so as to impart a rotary motion to the inducing fluid and to cause it to issue from the nozzle as a spherical wall 9 enclosing a space 10 into which the air from the chamber to be evacuated is sucked. The chamber 3 comprises an upper portion of uniform cross-section and a lower portion, bolted thereto, having a converging-diverging bore 8 axially in line with the inducing nozzle 2. The height of the delivery pipe may exceed that of the water barometer so as to assist the inducing action.
