Abstract

197,557. Avery, Ltd., W. & T., and Cox, H. N. June 2, 1922. Testing balance o/ rotary apparatus.-Relates to apparatus in which the body to be. tested is mounted in a swinging frame supported by means of knife edges on a fixed framework and consists in providing the swinging frame with adjustable end members carrying self-centering bearings for the rotary body whereby the axis of the body can be aligned with the knife edges. The frame 8 is mounted by knife-edge bearings 6 on a fixed frame 4 having end members 9 having a slot and bolt adjustment 10, 11 in the frame. The members 9 are provided with V-blocks 12 the centre line of which is coaxial with the line of the knife edges 7. Secured to one end of the frame 8 is a cranked bracket 14 supporting a screw 15 on which a weight 16 may be traversed to secure initial balance of the frame. This end of the frame is also fitted with a pointer 17 moving over a fixed scale 18. An adjustable slide 20 with a V-shaped aperture which engages a pin 25 on the frame serves to lock the frame 8 when desired.
