Aeroplanes; cabins; guns, disposition of; propelling.-A tractor aeroplane has the pilot's seat arranged between the engine and the propeller and in front of the leading edge of the plane 3 so as to afford a clear view in front. The engine 1 is arranged beneath the plane 3 and drives the propeller through a shaft 4, which may be in alignment with the propeller axis, but preferably reducing-gear is interposed to enable a gun 6 to project through the hollow hub of the propeller. Flexible joints may be placed in the shaft 4 at 8, 9 to enable the propeller shaft to be set at an upward inclination.
