Abstract
196,742. Miller, J. A. Feb. 16, 1922. Railways for recreation.-A pleasure railway of the kind in which the train travels over a series of abrupt dips and summits comprises a leader car L, Figs. 2 and 3, and trailer cars T, each trailer car being supported upon the rear axle of the preceding car by a draw-bar 34, which is pivoted at one end upon a bolt 35 secured to the centre beam of the car and at the other upon a pin 32 carried, by a bracket 29 secured to the centre beam of the preceding car. The train is raised to the starting-point, which is at the top of a summit, by a chain the links of which engage with dogs 45 pivoted to spring- urged carriages- 43 mounted between the flanges of the centre beams of the cars. In the event of a train failing to reach the top of a summit or of a car becoming uncoupled during ascent, the dogs on the carriages will engage with the links of safety chains or the like which are provided on the inclines.
