Abstract

195,994. Allen, E., and Ferrand, F. Oct. 8, 1921. Spindle apparatus.-Relates to spinning or doubling machines of the kind wherein the yarn is spun or doubled by a positively - driven member mounted on a tubular support through which a dragged spindle is reciprocated. The positivelydriven member 6 is supported on a ball bearing 8, which is arranged at or near the top of the tubular support 3 and between the yarn guide eyes 11 and the wharl, and its lower end bears on or against the support between an enlarged part thereof and the fixed rail 4 wherein it is mounted. The spindle rail may be given a progressive ascent to build the cop, in which case the tubular member may be reduced in length. The Provisional Specification describes a drag arrangement for the spindle comprising stationary plates which bear upon felt-covered discs mounted on the spindles.
