Abstract
195,599. Eclipse Textile Devices, Inc., (Assignees of Ness, H. E. van). March 29, 1922, [Convention date]. Clearing-apparatus.-Means for removing impurities such as seeds, slubs, &c. from yarn comprises a series of resilient blades 50, 50<1>, which are vibrated by the yarn as it passes between them. The blades are each provided with a semicircular notch 57 and a cleaning edge 62, Fig. 8, and are mounted in staggered relation in a frame, of which the side 16 is adjustable to adapt the blades to different yarns. The particles removed from the yarn are deflected by resilient means comprising blades 70, 70<1> mounted in the frame. Covers 26, 27, are mounted on the frame to provide a slit for the threading of the yarn, which is passed into the device and drawn forward so that it passes into the notches 57, pins 80 preventing it from falling below the level of the notches. Air suction may be used to withdraw the particles removed from the yarn.
