Abstract
193,059. Pfiffner, E. Feb. 10, 1922, [Convention date]. Condensers.- In a condenser comprising a number of superposed elements 1, 2, 3, with metal castings in intimate contact with the dielectric, insulating-layers 4 or distance pieces are inserted between the edges of coatings of like polarity, in order to weaken the electric fields which may be formed at the edges of successive elements if the coatings do not exactly cover each other. The insulating layers 4, preferably have a smaller dielectric constant than the condenser dielectric. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the modification shown in Fig. 4 (Cancelled), in which insulating- plates 5, or distance members 6, are interposed between the coatings of like polarity. The members 6 may be of conducting material if they do not project beyond the margins of the conducting coatings. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
