Abstract
192,529. Yates, A. E., and Shell-Mex, Ltd. Nov. 23, 1921. Tapered plug lift valves; outlets.-A discharge nozzle, more particularly for heavy hubricating oils, comprises a fixed hollow member, the outlet of which is controlled by an outer sleeve screwing upon it. A hollow member 1 is closed at the bottom and formed with a seating 2, while ports 6 are formed in an annular groove above the seating. A sleeve 3 is screwed to a ring 9 provided with threads 8 for engagement with the member 1. The outlet from the nozzle is closed by means of the closure surfaces 2, 4, and a central projection 14 is provided to direct the outflowing liquid. A stuffing box 12 is provided to prevent leakage. Alternatively, the sleeve 3 may be given a vertical sliding movement over the member 1 by a lever or link mechanism.
