Abstract
192,126. Lea, J. E. Sept. 28, 1921. Rate of feed of granular materials.-Relates to apparatus for indicating by electric means the rate of feed of granular material such as fuel delivered through a variable orifice and by an endless travelling conveyer or a reciprocating conveyer, the indication being given in weight delivered per unit of time. As shown in Fig. 1, the control means for the conveyer drive and orifice operate rheostats in the circuit of a constant speed dynamo c from which circuit is shunted one including in series a meter g, graduated in weight, and a rheostat h for correcting for the varying densities of materials delivered. In an alternative form the dynamo c is driven by the conveyer the circuit of which includes a resistance the contact on which is moved by the variable orifice and is in circuit with the indicator g and a density correcting resistance h. For a flow controlled by a single variable, circuits such as shown in Figs 3 and 4 are employed with an accumulator.
