Abstract
17,799. Tarrant, W. G. Dec. 20. Portable buildings.-An army or portable hut is built with sloping side walls, vertical end walls, and roof sections supported by a trussed ridge girder. Joists c, b are first laid, and the floor panels then secured in place. The end frames p containing the door and windows are then screwed in place and temporarily braced, and triangular end wall sections d<2> are bolted by claw or dog bolts to the end frames. The principals, comprising opposite pairs of sloping timbers d connected by beams i and braced to uprights h, are then put together and connected by shelves m. Rails f at the floor line and the eaves rails g are next fixed to the principals. The uprights are notched and blocked to afford access to the shelves, which can then be used as scaffolding for the erection of a trussed ridge girder j. No rafters or purlins are used, the roof panels being bolted to the girder j and eaves rails. The wall panels are bolted to the sloping timbers and consist of double boarding or single boards and a waterproof covering. Rifle racks n are provided.
