Abstract
14,436. Riva, O. Bajma-. Oct. 12. Coupling.-Relates to couplings for mechanically and electrically connecting wires, metal cords, metal rods, &c., of the kind comprising a conical sleeve and an internal conical gripping-plug, which may be roughened and is divided longitudinally into two or more sectors. The gripping-sectors b, Fig. 6, are assembled by means of an elastic metal ring c, Fig. 3, forced into a circumferential groove d<2>. A screw connexion e, forming an abutment for the sectors, enables the wire &c. f, on its insertion, to expand the sectors and, when the sleeve a is screwed home, causes the sectors to grip the wire. A loose disk may be interposed between the screwconnexion and the ends of the sectors. In a modification, Fig. 8, the sectors are introduced through the cylindrical end a<1> of the sleeve a, Fig. 7, which is then formed into a cone. A pin d forms the abutment for the sectors.
