Abstract
9708. Alonso e Yzaguirre, F. July 3. Soles.-" Alpargatas " or rope soles are made from unspun yarn or the like which is merely twisted in the one direction into bands without being plaited or braided. In one form, the sole comprises a core a wound from a single band of unspun flax, tow, or jute yarn, &c., twisted in the one direction and then compressed, and a reinforcing outer wrapping b of plaited strands. The ends of this wrapping, which may be of a different colour from the core, may be tied together and turned inwardly, as-shown. In another arrangement, the core is made of an inner band of esparto grass, or jute, flax, tow, or other fibres of inferior quality, enclosed in a sheath of jute, flax, tow, &c. of superior quality.
