Abstract
7975. Hill, T., and Smith, W. May 29. Chucks of the bevel closing type, for the brushes of bottle-cleaning machines, have the jaws provided with an external groove engaging a flange on the body or on the closing-member. In the construction shown in Fig. 3, the groove b engages a flange on the screw cap A. The opening in the flange may be made just large enough to pass the outer ends of the jaws when collapsed, and the jaws may be expanded at this end after insertion, to prevent them from falling out. As shown, the opening in the flange is made smaller, and a notch a is provided to permit the jaws to be inserted and removed. In a modification, the jaws are closed by a screwed ring A, Fig. 12, and the flange is formed on the body, either integrally or as a screwed ring d<2>. An additional groove b<1> may be provided to receive an elastic or a spring band to hold the jaws loosely together. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 3010/99.
