Abstract

21,851. Stewart, W. J., and Woolcock, J. Nov. 2. Reinforced concrete. -The reinforcing- bars of concrete piles, pillars, beams, &c. are bonded in sets of three by means of wire ties a, Figs. 3 and 5, the ends c of the wire being twisted together to tighten the loop b on the middle bar of the set as shown in Fig. 1, and the extremities being formed into a fork. The ties may be opened out as shown in Fig. 8 to support the bars at shorter distances. Struts such as flat bars h, k, Fig. 1, may be used between the main bars. According to the Provisional Specification, the ties may be bent completely around each bar and may embrace more than three bars.
