Projectiles; projectile fuses.-Relates to bombs intended to be dropped from aircraft and provided with guiding vanes at the tail end and with a friction fuse for exploding the bomb on impact. According to the invention, a cylinder 8 is provided in the head of the projectile in front of the movable pellet 5 of the fuse, so that, on impact, the pellet moves into the cylinder and an igniter 7 disposed at the side of the pellet is ignited by friction with the cylinder. The pellet is held up by a spring 9 during flight, and also by a rod 11 before the bomb is dropped; the rod 11 also serves to hold the bomb in the dropping tube, as described in Specification 15,328/14, [Class 9 (ii), Torpedoes &c.], and is mounted in ball bearings 12 to facilitate its withdrawal.
